Chicharito Promises To Be Even Better Next Season!

The Mexican international has praised Sir Alex Ferguson for giving him the chance to play for the club and warns defenders that he strives to be a better player next season.
Hernandez, a virtual unknown before his £7million move to United, scored 20 goals last season to help Sir Alex Ferguson’s side clinch a record-breaking 19th title.

The Mexican striker is currently resting after helping Mexico win the Gold Cup, where he was top goalscorer with with 7 goals, and was also the tournament’s MVP.
Chicharito, who stands at only five feet and nine inches tall, scored several headers for the Premier League champions last year, but insists he has been lucky with a few of them, and has vowed to become a more complete player.
“I have been a little lucky with some of my goals,” Hernandez told Inside United. “There have been a few headers in there.
“I work on that side of my game because I am not the tallest guy.
“I am working on all aspects of my game – speed, strength, technical ability with the ball, movement and heading.”
Chicharito’s form was so good towards the end of last season that he kept the league’s top goalscorer, Dimitar Berbatov, sitting on the bench.
Javier Hernandez could only speak kindly of Ferguson for giving him the chance to shine in the Premier League, with the youngster vowing to work had every day to refine his game.
“I only have words of thanks for Sir Alex Ferguson because he has given me a lot of opportunities to play for this club, so I owe him a lot,” he said.
“I am improving how I play. I am trying to be quicker with the ball, with more technique and concentration, because it is very difficult to keep the ball in this league.
“Of course, I have a lot of improving to do and I will work hard every day to achieve that.”
Hernandez, speaking to Inside United magazine, said his first season at Old Trafford had brought home to him the weight of expectation and responsibility on those players who pull on the famous red shirt.
“I have learned that you need to defend this shirt with your life, because Manchester United has a lot of history,” said Hernandez.
“This is the most important team, certainly in England, in terms of history, and everyone who works here understands and appreciates that. It’s one of the nice things about the club.”
Hernandez, nicknamed ‘Chicharito’ – the Little Pea – also claimed the Premier League will be even more competitive next season, as the gulf between the so-called bigger and smaller clubs continues to narrow.
“For me there are no small teams,” said Hernandez. “They are labelled as such because they don’t have the same history as some of the other clubs, but I quickly realised that every team in the Premier League is as hard to play as Chelsea or Arsenal.
“It was only through playing that I’ve realised that this league is the best in the world. I thought this before, but it’s not quite the same watching it on TV.”
